I am extremely disappointed and distressed by the care I received.
One doctor told me I should stay in hospital for a few days, while another member of the Psychiatric Liaison team advised me to leave. I left feeling completely unsupported and, at the time, said that I would go home and end my life.
Since then, I have overdosed again, taking a dangerous amount of insulin, paracetamol and Nurofen Max. I initially called 999 because I could not stay awake, but I later called back and asked them to stand the ambulance down.
I feel let down by the system and by the lack of consistent care I received. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. I had one or two blood tests, but I was not kept informed about what was happening or what the plan was.
I was offered support from the Home Treatment Team, but after my previous experiences I said I did not feel able to accept that option.
My concern is that people in crisis need clear communication, compassion, and proper assessment. The conflicting advice I received left me feeling abandoned at a time when I was already extremely vulnerable.
I am sharing this because I believe there needs to be better communication between teams and better support for people experiencing a mental health crisis.
